The first smoke-free cruise ship is the Carnival's Paradise.
If you're interested, call 800-327-9501, or check out the web site for the ship "Paradise". Unfortunately, the new Carnival web site no longer features this ship, the only smoke-free cruise ship, even though it has been a huge success.
Health advocates Rita Zemlock of GASP of Florida, and Gordon Draves of GASP -- Georgians Against Smoking Pollution, have each enjoyed four cruises on the Paradise with family and friends. They have reported that the cruise is wonderful, enhanced by the smoke-free air, and look forward to more cruises.
However, travel agents apparently are not letting their clients know that smoke-free cruises exist. Be sure to tell your travel agent to list all smoke-free travel items.
GASP of Florida has presented an award to the Captain of the ship. The award, displayed on the ship, has the text etched in glass, and reads:

EXCERPTS from USA Today, August 6, 2001, headlined: Smoke won't get in your eyes at this hotel
... Manhattan this week got its first totally smoke-free hotel when the 79-room Comfort Inn Midtown, newly deep-cleaned and disinfected, declared smoking verboten. More people are asking for fume-free accommodation — "it's a trend," says Vijay Dandapani, chief operating officer of Apple Core Hotels, which co-owns and manages the Comfort Inn Midtown. "It's also good for the employees. When a smoker leaves a room, there is a lot of particulate matter ... and it's harder to clean."
